Les Rootsmaker comptent aujourd’hui plus d’une ving- taine de compositions dans leur répertoire : allant du Reggae roots, au Ragga-dancehall, du Nyah binghi à la musique Africaine :
« Résumer nos influences à un pays ou à un continent serait vain tant cette volonté d’échanger et de connaître est importante pour nous. Si les frontières ont tendance à se renforcer, la musique et les mots ont toujours réussi à les outrepasser. Soucieux des inégalités et des injustices qui traversent nos sociétés, nous utilisons la musique re- ggae-roots pour mieux les expliquer et les combattre. »
Fondé en Avril 2016 par Max & Laëtitia, le projet musical évolue sous une formation acoustique dans la métropole Lilloise. En 2018, le groupe s’est agrandit en accueillant des musiciens expérimentés et actifs sur la scène régionale, voire internationale depuis plus d’une dizaine d’années. Des musiciens qui ont évolué ensemble autour de projets communs comme : Reggae Warriors, B-Siders, Classics Band, ou encore Kingston by Bus. Collaborant avec des artistes tels que U-Brown, Mad Professor, Earl Sixteen, Alpheus, Nuttea, Black Thunder, Lord Bitum, Mister Aya
