Shelby takes you on a trip to her sunny latin-soul world. With her guitar, her unique voice and her smile, she sings her love for life and people.
The singer-songwriter is the reflection of her music, a rich mixture of styles. Besides her Afro-European origins, she feels a deep connection with Latin America and more specifically with Brazil. In 2019, she was lucky enough as to know this country that she has always been interested in. This encounter made this magical bond even stronger. Brazilians even call her « la belga de alma brasileira » (the Belgian with a Brazilian soul).
She likes traveling to discover the world, to find inspiration but also to learn about others and about herself. Shelby sings and composes in French, Spanish, English and Portuguese, her “language crush” that she specifically learned by herself to sing. Her songs evoke themes such as self-acceptance, liberty, (self-)love, diversity or the pursuit of happiness.
Since the summer 2017, Shelby has performed mainly in Belgium but also in Maastricht (The WE Festival, LadyFest…), in Barcelone (Koitton club) and in Brazil. In 2018, she opened Tim Dup’s show and then Baloji‘s in Reflektor (Liège). She has won a couple of competitions that have allowed her to play at some festivals in Belgium such as Les Francofolies where she played after being selected by the singer Typh Barrow.
In 2019, Shelby gave her first concert in Brazil (Belo Horizonte) for the international project Sofar Sounds. She also played in the Palácio das Artes, a renowned cultural institution in Belo Horizonte. For the occasion, she was performing with Nestor Lombida, a Cuban maestro and pianist, and Rafael Matos, a Brazilian percussionist of the Orquestra Sinfônica of Minas Gerais.
