The V / Band
The V is een bandformatie bestaande uit drie historici in spé, die is ontstaan uit een gezamenlijke liefde voor muziek, de film Scott Pilgrim vs the world en de basloop van Foster the people’s Pumped up kicks. Met onvervalste rock en enige folk-invloeden weten zij zowel een elektrische als een (semi-) akoestische set neer te zetten. Dit hebben zij al meerdere keren kunnen laten zien op bijvoorbeeld de Kaaij, in café Dollars en bij de wekelijkse Camelot live. De rauwe rockstem van gitarist en zanger Kay wordt af en toe afgewisseld met de lichtere stem van bassist Ellen. Dit is één van de kenmerken die onderscheidend is voor The V en tevens tekenend: ook hun setlist varieert van stevigere rock naar gevoeligere nummers. The V, een naam die (misschien had de oplettende lezer het al door) een verengelsing is van het Franse woord voor ‘leven’ (la vie) dekt de lading van het repertoire van de band. Alle nummers zijn gebaseerd op eigen ervaringen, en daardoor herkenbaar.
