Zayna Esuo ft. D-urbanites / Band
Zayna Esuo and D-Urbanites is een kleurrijke band met leden die roots hebben in zowat alle windstreken: van Chili , Nederland , Congo en Marokko tot België. Samen komen ze tot een opwindende sound waarin soul, jazz en funk samensmelt met een vleugje pop.
Zayna Esuo is opgegroeid tussen Londense muzikanten en het werd al gauw duidelijk dat ze in haar vaders voetsporen zou treden. Na afstuderen aan de middelbare school , begon ze te werken aan eigen songs en had zij het idee om nieuw leven te steken in haar vader’s vroegere band D-Urbanites. Nu studeert ze popzang aan het KASK conservatorium in Gent.
De originele band is ontstaan in 2008 vanuit front man en lead vocalist Malik Esuo (The Brix Academy , WKD en Tales of Hypeness). Samen met toetsenist Jonas “lil ‘jo” Desmet (Madame Blavatsky , Olga Jane en Keith Canvas) en drummer/componist Sam Gysel (Arno , Arsenal en Fugu Mango). Hierbij is youngster Kasper Snellebrand nog toegevoegd als bassist (medestudent en klasgenoot aan KASK conservatorium Gent).
Regelmatig zijn er ook guest artists die meepikken van de magie on stage. Namen zoals : Sebastian Pena Ortiz (percussionist) , Jerrel Seymonson (bassist) , Michiel Van Acker (toetsenist) en vele anderen.
Zayna Esuo et D-Urbanites est un groupe multiculturel dont les membres ont des racines dans presque tous les coins du monde : du Chili, des Pays-Bas, du Congo et du Maroc jusqu'à la Belgique. Ensemble, ils créent un son passionnant qui fusionne la soul, le jazz et le funk avec une touche de pop.
Zayna Esuo a grandi parmi des musiciens londoniens et il est vite devenu évident qu'elle suivrait les traces de son père. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme d'études secondaires, elle a commencé à travailler sur ses propres chansons et a eu l'idée de relancer l'ancien groupe de son père, D-Urbanites. Elle étudie désormais le chant pop au conservatoire KASK de Gand.
Le groupe original a été formé en 2008 par le leader et chanteur principal Malik Esuo (The Brix Academy, WKD et Tales of Hypeness). Avec le claviériste Jonas « lil 'jo » Desmet (Madame Blavatsky, Olga Jane et Keith Canvas) et le batteur/compositeur Sam "N'Galula" Gysel (Arno, Arsenal et Fugu Mango). Le jeune Kasper Snellebrand a été ajouté comme bassiste (camarade de classe au conservatoire KASK de Gand).
Des artistes invités réguliers partagent également la magie sur scène. Des noms tels que : Sebastian Pena Ortiz (percussionniste), Jerrel Seymonson (bassiste), Michiel Van Acker (claviériste) et bien d'autres.
Zayna Esuo and D-Urbanites is a colorful band with members who have roots in almost all corners of the world: from Chile, the Netherlands, Congo and Morocco to Belgium. Together they create an exciting sound that merges soul, jazz and funk with a touch of pop.
Zayna Esuo grew up amongst London musicians and it soon became clear that she would follow in her father's footsteps. After graduating from high school, she started working on her own songs and had the idea to revive her father's former band D-Urbanites. She now studies pop singing at the KASK music conservatory in Ghent.
The original band was formed in 2008 from front man and lead vocalist Malik Esuo (The Brix Academy, WKD and Tales of Hypeness). Together with pianist Jonas “lil 'jo” Desmet (Madame Blavatsky, Olga Jane and Keith Canvas) and drummer/composer Sam "N'Galula" Gysel (Arno, Arsenal and Fugu Mango). Youngster Kasper Snellebrand is the newest addition to the band as bassist (fellow student and classmate at KASK conservatory in Ghent).
There are also regular guest artists who join in the magic on stage. Names such as: Sebastian Pena Ortiz (percussionist), Jerrel Seymonson (bassist), Michiel Van Acker (pianist) and many others.
